GUN - MICROPHONE ASSEMBLIES
For use with Acoustic Liquid Level Instruments
The assemblies consist
of a gas gun and microphone. They are normally supplied in one unit.
The gun generates a pressure
pulse which travels down the casing annulus gas or tubing gas and is reflected by
cross-section area changes such as collars or nipples and the liquid
level. The
microphone converts these acoustic pressure pulses into an electrical signal.
When used with the computerized Well
Analyzer, the electrical signal is processed, digitized and stored in
the well's database. This data is used to calculate liquid level
depth and bottom
hole pressure.
Alternatively, the Model M
uses an amplifier-recorder which amplifies, filters
and records the collar and liquid level signals on a paper strip chart
using a thermal print head.

Our gas guns offer superior performance, greater safety and less operating
expense than black powder guns.
An important note about black powder guns:
Back powder guns have caused explosions of wellbore gas when
oxygen was allowed to enter the wellbore. Such an explosion
occurred in 1996 that damaged the casing and also resulted in
environmental damage. Further information is available by
request.
